Canteen
Concept, Design & Branding | Lost Shore Surf Resort, Scotland
Brief: Lost Shore Surf Resort is a new £60m leisure destination in Edinburgh. Featuring Europe’s largest artificial wavepool alongside accommodation, wellness and sauna. Rogue Village were asked to conceptualise, design and brand the onsite restaurant, cafe & bar.
Response: With a forecasted 200k annual visitors, a capacity of 250 overnight guests and a highly anticipated opening, we sought to create a relaxed space that would become the vibrant heartbeat
of Lost Shore.
Canteen was born. A design-led restaurant with three resident-guest kitchens that celebrated the best in Scottish food & drink. We created the brand identity, photography & videography, signage, print, uniforms and a standalone Instagram account. We also curated the opening line-up of guests kitchens of Five March, Civernos and Rafa’s Diner. We established a key supplier list of local producers including Pilot, Company Bakery and Lind & Lime.
We also partnered S+Co to work on interior design. Together we created space that felt warm and cosy during the winter, and light and bright during the summer, but always with a great vibe and good music. Canteen alongside the site’s other hub buildings won a prestigious Design Innovation award at the Scottish Design Awards
Canteen has now been handed over to Lost Shore to operate.
